Goal or Challenge: Players are challenged to meet financial benchmarks by completing contracts for clients in a simulated manufacturing environment.
Primary Audience: Undergraduate and graduate level business students.
Assessment Approach: Financial performance data is generated for each turn, and players are graded on quality and timeliness for every contract fulfilled for every client. In addition, critical thinking questions are presented to players every turn.
Description: Practice Operations is a learning resource that brings operations management to life, while reinforcing key concepts in a way that promotes critical thinking and strategic decision making. Practice Operations is a 3D, interactive, game-based simulation that allows students to manage operations of a clothing manufacturing and distribution company. The game is designed to present players with a series of production-based scenarios, based upon a specific set of learning objectives, allowing the player to practice mastery over the know ledge, skills and abilities necessary to function as an Operations Manager. The game provides an interactive, animated view of the elements of operations: production processes, supply chain management, forecasting, contracts, human resources and capacity planning, in a five-module format.
