Description: A suite of mini games that is a training resource complementing existing professional dental training. Our approach is to deliver dental training content through enjoyable games and interactive experiences, making it easier to absorb the learning content in smaller chunks. The more you play, the more you learn, the further you progress. The learning content delivers the real curriculum to help pass exams and knowledge needed in the workplace. Initially covering the introduction to Mouth Regions, Tooth Surfaces, Charting and a visual for Skull Anatomy.
Skills and Ideas Taught: The game assumes no prior knowledge and teaches the basics of Mouth Regions, Tooth Surfaces, Charting and a visual for Skull Anatomy. The learning content is in line with the dental training curriculum. For existing trainees/professionals, it’s a great way to refresh knowledge and get back up to speed in areas needed.
Goal: Progress through each level gaining knowledge about dental training. Each section has its own learning path. We want players to have fun and realise they are learning. Game play ranges from memorising regions of the mouth, to identifying terms for individual teeth, to charting symbols used. Audio is used so players can learn pronunciation and association with 2D and 3D aspects of the mouth and in written form.
Ultimately the more the player learns, the further they progress the more they win. There are also statistics being recorded so we are able to monitor player’s progress and identify levels which prove more tricky than others. When we ran a pilot to test the ideas in Chomp, we were able to identify learners hitting challenges at certain levels. We saw that they replayed to win and get past those levels, therefore proving they learnt and gained knowledge.
