Skills and Ideas Taught:  Accurate Canadian Forces Rules of Engagement (ROE) with lethal and non-lethal weapons.

Goal or Challenge:  Players practice their training exercises at a low-cost in a virtual environment in lieu of real-world training facilities.

Primary Audience:  Canadian Forces Urban Operations students.

Assessment Approach:  The game has a built-in score system that keeps track of the mission goals as well as any ROE infractions.  At the end of a mission, this information is displayed to all of the participants of a mission.  There is also an event capturing system where a screenshot of the game is captured of a player at the moment they commit a ROE infraction.

Description:  Canadian Forces Direct Action is a tactical first person shooter that accurately mimics the real-world ROE of the Canadian Army.  Real-world Canadian weaponry and tactical aids such as flashbangs and pepper spray are used to carry out missions in the simulated urban environments which have been created to accurately represent real-world locations.
