Skills and Ideas Taught: Aircraft maintenance troubleshooting procedures, maintenance tool operation and the functionality of components and instrumentation.
Goal or Challenge: Players must demonstrate a command of proper Army Aviation maintenance procedures through the successful execution of a Maintenance Operational Check and Fault Isolation Procedure on a virtual AH-64D Apache Longbow.
Primary Audience: AH-64D Apache Longbow 15Y and 15R entry level maintenance personnel.
Assessment Approach: Player maintenance related decisions are tracked, recorded, and evaluated against a master list of Instructor steps taken directly from the OEM supplied Interactive Electronic Training Manual (IETM) so as to accurately represent proper AH-64D Apache Longbow troubleshooting methodology. An After Action Report (AAR) is provided at the conclusion of each maintenance procedure that displays a side-by-side comparison of player’s maintenance decisions and the Instructor steps.
Description: AH-64D Apache Longbow Practical Exercises allows players to interact with a IETM and a virtual environment to test their aviation maintenance skills against a series of system faults. Detailed performance feedback is provided through interface symbology, in-game progress reports, an arcade-style scoring system and detailed AARs.
