Serious Play Conference, online for the first time due to COVID-19, attracted a worldwide attendance this year, with participants “Zooming” in from as far away as Singapore, New Zealand, and Australia, to the East and England, Spain, the Netherlands, and even Saudi Arabia to the East. Offering 110+ sessions, the annual event offered talks on the evaluation, assessment, and ROI of serious games. There were also two days devoted to workshops for developers on winning SBIR funding and how to get contracts with the Department of Defense.
Serious Play is the only practical, peer-run conference where speakers from every major application of serious games and simulations (military/government, corporate/non-profit, healthcare, higher ed, and K12) share their experiences – successes, failures, and course corrections, and creating, using, and running game-based learning programs. A full track for game and instructional designers had sessions on the best technologies for development, and best practices for designing specific types of games and case histories.
If you missed the event, or just want to catch up on some of the talks you missed, you are in luck! For the first time, all sessions were recorded, and are for sale individually and as collections at https://vimeo.com/seriousplayconf.
