Jennifer McNamara’s broad background combining research and application in cognitive psychology, adult education and advanced training systems design and development, gave her the perfect foundation to build a lifetime career in serious gaming.
As Vice President of Serious Games and Strategic Partnerships at BreakAway, Ltd., she leads a team that creates game-based solutions to meet customers’ goals throughout the defense, homeland security, medical, education and corporate training communities. For the past 10 years, she has been active in the serious game community, researching and advocating the use of game-based simulation for training and rehearsal purposes.
Since 2008, Jenn has been involved with Serious Games Showcase & Challenge (SGS&C), first as a game evaluator, and then she was invited to become an IPT. In 2013, she served as the IPT lead. This year, Jenn continues her commitment to SGS&C as chair of the sponsorship subcommittee.
She is frequently sought out as a partner/advisor by organizations to explore the serious application of games technology. She understands the strengths and limitations of game technologies and design practices as applied in different end settings.
Jenn is a great advocate for the serious games community, and an IPT member that has truly impacted the growth of the Serious Games Showcase & Challenge.
